At least I am trying.....
I have not been working out as much in the past few weeks as I have had a few obstacles to the training process. However, with the Holiday season winding down, I am running out of excuses. I did a run on the treadmill last night and am trying to mix things up. I did a 60 minute run, but I would alternate between 3 intervals. First interval - run as fast as I can with incline set on 4, 2nd interval - run pretty fast with incline set somewhere between 12-15 (started on 15, but by the end of the hour I was on 12), then for the 3rd interval, I would jog lightly with incline on 4-5 (recovery). Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Each interval length was based on what song came up on my IPOD.
This was a harsh work out. I am extremely sore today. Definitely will do it again.
Cheers! Happy New Year's to All! Thinking of my brothers and my new sisters-in-law celebrating in New York together! I love you all.
Run. Ralph. Rally. Ralph. Repeat. Ralph. Repeat. Run. Ralph. Rally. Ralph. Run. Rally. Ralph. Run. Repeat. Repeat. Run. Rally.

I Can Run In My Sleep
I know this because I ran this morning before work. I was on the treadmill anyway
..and it was on...so I assume I was running.
Big day today...my run is done. Work is more than halfway over. Then on to Syracuse where I will be leaving...on a jet plane. Can't wait to get home.
Oh...and I can now blog from my cell phone...like right now. How dangerous is that?

Grrrrrreat Sunday
I was able to find my way to Planet Fitness today after yesterdays debacle. It was a good day on the treadmill...I had my wife two treadmills to my left and I had back brace / neck brace man in front of me dominating the elliptical again. Big news though...he is no longer wearing the neck brace...down to only the back brace. Its nice to see him making progress.
The run felt pretty good today...tried a little faster pace than usual and I was able to complete all 5 miles at that pace.
Sundays Run:
Miles: 5.1
Time: 41:37

Things That Make Me Happy
1. Michael Cuddyer signing with Colorado - I celebrated all night. I no longer have to watch him hit 24 meaningless solo HRs a year...and ground into a league high 178 double plays.
2. Tim Tebow lost. What on earth will the media talk about now?

Combo
I made a wrong turn after work tonight...so instead of making it to Planet Fitness to run - I made to the drive thru of McDonald's and ordered a big Mac combo. It was good...and I feel guilty...and that's all I have to say about that. Don't judge me.

Took the big dog to the Vet today and here is what we found out.
Zoe weighs 131 lbs.
Zoe does not like to have her temperature taken...rectally.
I'm not running today...but plan on getting my run on tomorrow.

A Little Speed Work
Tried to mix things up a little bit today. I was getting a little old of the same old routine so I tried a workout today to help improve my speed (not sure that is possible).
Here is what I did for my workout today..
2 miles @ 8:20 pace
then
1 minute @ 7:30 pace - then walk for a minute
1 minute @ 7:30 pace - then walk for a minute
1 minute @ 7:30 pace - then walk for a minute
1 minute @ 7:03 pace - then walk for a minute
1 minute @ 7:03 pace - then walk for a minute
then
2 miles @ 8:20 pace
That totaled 5.20 miles for a total of 45:08 minutes.
Also, if it wasn't so awkward I would share with you my encounter with the neck brace / back brace guy in the locker room today. I am sure he was going to go dominate the elliptical again.
Super excited to see everyone! We will be home in a week. WHAT A RUSH!

Struggled Again
Got in another treadmill workout today - And just like my last run I struggled through it. Today I was being entertained by watching a man in a neck brace and a back brace just dominate an elliptical in front of me...it was pretty impressive. I ran for almost 40 minutes and he started before I did and I finished before he did. Yep, he was being a show off...annoying.

Saturday Cross Training
Erica and I went to Washington DC this weekend to visit Bust. There was so much to see in so little time. We did a lot of walking which I am considering my cross training for the weekend - I am planning on running again on Monday.
Boo...good to have you back.
Below is Erica and I at the White House.

Struggled
Struggled through my run today...maybe it was because I was listening/watching Celebrity Rehab on VH1 instead of running to music...I find it hard to believe that the trials and tribulations of Heidi Fleiss were not inspirational?
Thursdays Run:
Miles: 4.5
Time: 37:30

I wonder if my sister and brother are ever going to blog again.

Decade Of The Balancing Act
The 30's...According to the complete runners world guide...
Comfortably in the prime of your running years, you're also likely coming into the prime of your career. What's more, you're probably married and possibly starting a family, and if so, running may not command the same attention it used to. But logging miles during the maelstrom of deadlines and diapers is a way to maintain your sanity.
Lori - this sounds like your life...I am getting to this point and Boo Boo you are not far behind. In a couple years we will all be in our 30's...holy cow that is hard to believe. I can still remember back in the day...taking the two of you and stacking you on the living room floor and laying on the both of you until you cried for Mom!

Chasing A Laser
No Running for me today - I had to get up at 4 am for work so I had no energy to run when I was done. Thought I'd share a video of Zoe chasing a laser...I don't know why she loves this so much but she could chase the laser all day. Any guesses on how much longer her chair is going to last?

Keeping A Low Profile
I went back to the Judgement Free zone today to run on the treadmill. The run felt pretty good...I could have picked up my pace a little, but nobody likes a "hot dog" - So I tried to keep a low profile : )

Zoe went to Pet Smart this weekend and got her picture taken with SANTA PAWS...she was scared #$%tless and couldn't get out of the store fast enough...but here is what it looked like.

Planet Fitness
I made my first appearance at my new gym today...Planet Fitness. Here is what Planet Fitness is all about...
As the most innovative health club brand in the United States, Planet Fitness is known for a lot of things – our absurdly low prices, our Lunk™ Alarm, and most of all perhaps, for our Judgement Free Zone® philosophy, which means members can relax, get in shape, and have fun without being subjected to the hard-core, look-at-me attitude that exists in too many gyms.

Triathlon Training
I see that running isn't enough for Boo...he is also jumping on the bike to get in some additional training. You would almost think he might be training for a triathlon. However, I know that will never happen since he is just like his mother and both of them need to be supervised in the deep end of their bathtubs.

Ego Check
Probably made my last run outside for the year today...I am not a fan of running in the cold. And on top of not enjoying running in the cold...today an 80 year old guy ran circles around me on the trail...that made me feel SUPER AWESOME...at least he was nice enough to wave and smile at me when he passed me.
