Lies

The blog post below is nothing but lies

The One That Aaron DOESN'T Give As A Choice....

Is my favorite:
Remember that one time when AT and Boo were out fishing and Boo got his line caught in the tree in the woods?  And do you remember how AT went into the woods to get the line and ended up getting poison ivy all over his body?  And then do you remember how AT was itching SO BAD and he took a shower and the HOT water felt SO GOOD that he kept making the water hotter and hotter?  And do you remember how he ended up getting burns all over his body from the hot water, ON TOP of the poison ivy?

I do.

If I'm Gonna Hit A Traffic Jam

It better be a tractor....man.

Beautiful night for a run...I ran faster than I wanted to...but not much I can do about it now.  One more run to go before I'm leaving...on a jet plane.

Sundays Run
Miles:  4.0
Time:  28:41
Pace:  7:10

Which of the following stories make you laugh the most?
A)  That one time Lori burned her car up
B)  That one time Momma Bear burned the lawnmower up
C)  Those many many times when Boo Boo wears long sleeve shirts when its 108 degrees to prevent being sunburned and then moving to Arizona where I've heard the sun shines from time to time

Runnin' Down A Dream

Wednesday I did a few miles before my softball game - clocked about 4 before I needed to warm up the arm.  Was feeling pretty good so I averaged a little over 9 min miles.  We won the game because the other team had to forfeit (not enough girls), but we played it out anyhoo.  They played 6 guys and we still whomped them.
Unfortunately, the Twins did not do as well on Thursday against Toronto.  I had the good fortune (if you can call it that these days), to attend the game.  It was another whomping, but now I was on the losing end.  This, my friend, is the ying and yang of life.
Last night I ran about 4.5 miles, but was not feeling so strong.  I averaged 11 minute miles and struggled a little that last mile.
Today I ran my BIG run, and the last one before race day.  I did an 11 miler today and averaged 11 min miles. My route had me going right by the gas station again at mile 3.3, which is so convenient!  I was doing really good until I hit mile 7.5.  It was around this time that I started to feel a little tired.  Then, I felt a pain in my right knee, so I walked it off.  The rest of my run was pretty tough.  I also started to feel like I just didn't have any "fuel" in my stomach/system.  So, I did more walking due to the knee pain and lack of fuel, than I normally do.
Lessons?
1) I was running too fast
2) I need to "fuel" up better/more prior to those big runs
3) I shouldn't have run last night, or run less than I did

Nobody Makes Me Bleed My Own Blood

Are you kidding me??  I am making this personal - I better be the best one or there is going to be hell to pay.  Aaron Thompson - Oh, real original...I'm not even the only 34 year old Aaron Thompson running the race.

Running Shoes...Remember Me?

So I was shocked to find out that the last time I ran was 6 days ago...and when I ran today it felt like I hadn't been running for a while.  It was a nice afternoon for a run - but took a while to find a rhythm.

Wednesdays Run
Miles:  7.89
Time:  1:01:58
Pace:  7:51

Lori - I think you have a pretty good playlist there and I am jealous of the Jett/Heart concert.  I would really appreciate that concert.

Runner Tracking

Not exactly sure how this works, but apparently you can track anyone running the half or full marathon...
Thought I would share this info for the peeps out there interested in keeping track of their friends / family / etc...

RUNNER TRACKING

For all of our wonderful spectators and families who will be following our half-marathoners and marathoners, we are happy to announce that there will be runner tracking.
Spectators and families will also be able to find the map tracker from www.mtectracking.com and linked to from their runner's individual results page on www.mtecresults.com.
The tracking program for the Fargo Half Marathon and Marathon will be operational during the week of the Fargo Marathon.

In unrelated news, I am going to a Joan Jett/Heart concert on June 29th at the Mystic Lake outdoor ampitheatre with my friend Val!!  We have booked a room at the hotel so we can just spend the night.  I am soooo excited!

Just to get a tie in to the blog, here's my playlist from tonight's run.  I know AT is going to love it!  I had to revamp my whole itunes to put it on my home computer.  So, I ended up actually making some purchases from itunes this past weekend.  Aren't you proud of me?

Dr. Feelgood

Epic appointment with new primary physician today.  She's a former marathon runner and currently competes in a few triathalons each summer. I gave her 3 pages of concerns. Here's the skinny:
1) Pulse 58.  Aaron - challenge taken and I failed!  However, my blood pressure was 100/60 - pretty good.
2) Albuterol inhaler to take as needed for my exercise-induced asthma.  This is why I have some problems breathing when running.  I am thinking this will be super helpful.
3)  Immodium for the gastric distress (aka runner's trots) and desitin for the problems the diarrhea creates. Lucy will outgrow the diaper rash cream before I do.
4)  Apparently I have a hectic schedule, highlighted by my statement; "A 7 or 8 mile run is a nice, welcome break." This may be why I get sick every month. She suggested I start cutting down by only doing one class on Mondays. Hmmmm.....we'll see :).
5) I am officially in "The Club" as I have one dead toenail on each foot from running.  Nothing can be done - wear the battle wounds with pride.
6) She ordered a bunch of labs so we'll see what those results bring.

I ran 5.6 miles on Saturday and 7 miles today.  It has been cold, rainy and windy here.  Tough conditions for running.  I plan to do a short run on Wednesday before my softball game, a short run on Friday night and a long run on Saturday morning.
Next week will be just a couple of short runs to rest up for the BIG DAY!!

Let It Begin

And by it....I mean tapering...
I have started a little too early...need to get get a few runs in this week and next before I jump on the plane.

The Wiff completed and did a great job on her half marathon on Sunday.  It was a really nice morning for a run.  She has the bug and is already trying to plan another race.

Mosquitoes Don't Bite Him Out Of Respect

Went for a run outside today.  It was just about perfect outside..55 degrees and overcast...Had a good run.  Legs were still a little sore from the 10 mile run on Sunday, but thought it would be good to shock the legs a little bit this week.  Here is the map of my run in Endicott and Vestal.

What You Do While Waiting At The Pharmacy For Your Inhaler

Turns out my blood pressure is doing okay...just a little high on the Systolic Pressure...I am in the "Prehypertension" category...
My Pulse Rate is at an impressive 45...I challenge you to come up with a lower number.

What is a normal pulse?

Normal Heart Rates at Rest:
  • Children (ages 6 - 15) 70 – 100 beats per minute
  • Adults (age 18 and over) 60 – 100 beats per minute
