September Totals

August Totals

18 laps=1 mile
I did not know this stat until after I had completed my run so that's how I ended up with 100 laps.  I made that my goal about 3/4 of the way through the run.  I didn't really feel dizzy,

Last Run Of September

I wanted to get in 1 last run to add to my September totals...it ended up being a really good run so I was happy I went.  Zoe even ran with me for a little bit...okay, she wasn't running, she was walking at a medium speed...

Amazing what can happen when the tummy is not full of Mac N Cheese!

Fridays Run:
Miles:  4.01

Mac N Cheese Run

Made my run after a delicious dinner of Mac N Cheese tonight...I didn't even have an entire box, but it was enough to slow me down a little.  On the bright side, it didn't rain...but it did rain most of the day today.

Erica and I registered for a race on October 15th.  She will be running a 5K and I will be running a 10K here in town.  Its Ericas first race, so that is exciting!

Thursdays Run:

www.jog.fm

If you go to this website, it has play lists that are designed specifically for a certain run time (i.e. 10:00 mile).  You should check it out! It's pretty cool.

Philosophy 101

I ran on the treadmill last Friday and ran on the indoor track last night.  My time/pace was definitely not as good as when I run outside.  I would guess that my time isn't as good for the treadmill run because there was a lot of incline going on, since I had it set for a run in the Northern Rockies.  I am thinking that I run faster/do better running outside because I have a place to run to, not just running for a certain amount of time.  I guess some goals just push us to be better...

I am happy to report that the Apple store gave me a brand new IPOD.  I am no longer swearing their name. To celebrate, I put together a brand new play list that I listened to last night.  I don't have it with me right now, I will have to post later tonight.  I know that it will quickly become AT's favorite.

I also wanted to be sure everybody knew that this weekend is Bria's big race.  Just in case you have a little extra time to send her a text wishing her good luck....

Friday:
5.5 miles (Northern Rockies/Downtown Chicago Virtual Run)
12:00 pace

Monday:
5.5 miles (100 laps around the track)
10:00 pace

Finish

Hopefully the Vikings were watching the Lynx on Sunday so they have some sort of an idea of how to finish a game.  Go Lynx.  Lori has been at a game this year and Brian is in love with the Lynx point guard Lindsay Whalen...I feel left out.

I didn't have a great run today...my pace was not great, my legs were a little sore from the hike on Saturday.  At least it wasn't raining.

Mondays Run:
Miles:  5.43
Time:  47:39
Pace:  8:46
Run Time Temp:  77 degrees

Saturday Cross Training

I did not run this weekend, but I did about a 4 mile hike @ a state park...so I am calling that my cross training workout for the weekend.  I am planning on running a little bit later today.

Below are some pictures from Saturdays hike.

Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head

Went on a short run tonight.  It started POURING about 1 mile into my run...so I had to finish up my run in clothes that felt like they were 10 lbs.

Enough with the rain already.

Miles:  2.22
Time:  18:30

We Have 1 Follower - What A Rush!

Mom, congrats on being the first official follower of this blog...Maybe by next May we can double that number.

My body sent me a clear message today before I even laced up the Ghost 4's that it did not want to run.  Thank goodness I received a call from my good friend Eminem...who dropped this little rhyme on me...
'Cause sometimes you feel tired,
feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
and just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give up
and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.

Just leaving the house today was a win.

First Place Finish Today

Twins are awful.  Vikings are going to finish last in the NFC North.  Timberwolves would finish 4th in the Big 10.  Nobody cares about hockey, so the Wild don't matter.  But at least the Lynx have a shot at winning a championship.

I finish first every time I go running by myself...Come on Minnesota, its not that hard.

Thursdays Run:
Miles:  5.3
Time:  44:06
Pace:  8:16

I Got No Rhythm...

Late Entry from 9/9/11 (Friday)....
My IPOD is down.  I called Apple support last week and they gave me some runaround about it being past 90 days since I bought it, so if they were going to help me over the phone I would have to pay for it.  THAT was NOT happening.  So, I hung up the phone, did some research and re-booted the software myself.  No dice.  It is most definitely a hardware problem.
I sucked it up and went running Friday anyways.  It was a very difficult 6 miles.  It was hot, humid and I had no tunes for distraction.  I felt every footstep and heard every breath.
Since I use my IPOD for time, I am not positive of my pace, but think it was around 10:00.  Again, I had to take a little "time out" a little past 3 miles and check out the French Regional Park restroom facilities. This is getting a little old and I hate what it does to my time.
I haven't fixed my IPOD, yet so I didn't go running Monday night.  I went to a step class at the Y, instead.  How special for me.
Wednesday night is a softball double header.
Friday I will be in Fargo visiting a friend.
Tough times for my running these days (my exercise nights are Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

9.11 on 9-11

Ten years ago today I was in nowhere Montana at a college fair (as a Mayville State admissions counselor) when the towers fell.  I actually felt pretty safe in Montana, just a little bit alone.  Its been a long and crazy road since that day ~ and that road has taken me to New York of all places.  Here you don't have to search very hard to find someone who had someone significant in their life who was directly impacted by the events of 9-11.

I was thinking all week that I would try to run 9.11 miles today...I had a slow week of running (only 8 miles) so today was the perfect day for a long run.  Ended up having a great run time and my body isn't feeling too beat up...those thoughts may change in the morning.

Todays Run:
Miles:  9.11
Time:  1:16:44
Pace:  8:25

And yes, I ate an entire medium sized pizza (ham and pineapple) for lunch yesterday and it was delicious.

Breaking News

Brian's half marathon training has come to a screeching halt.  ESPN is reporting that Brian has a blister and may be sidelined until April.

I was able to obtain a picture of this gruesome injury.
The following picture may not be appropriate for some viewers.  Viewer discretion is advised.

Foot blisters are very common to ATHLETES and people who wear socks everyday. They develop when socks stick to the sweaty skin of the feet. When the feet and socks then rub against each other on the interior walls of the shoes, the outer layers of the feet’s skin separate from their inner layers, and the space between these layers are filled with lymph fluid. This is how foot blisters (running) form.

Foot blisters usually heal on their own. The blister fluid is reabsorbed and disappears. However, there are cases when the blisters pop (by themselves), causing them to become infected. Once redness, red lines, or yellow liquid develops around the blister, medical attention is required.

What are the symptoms of foot blisters

A person developing blisters on foot normally notices some redness over the infected skin, usually on the instep, the back of the heel, or the toes. In time, the redness turns into a balloon-like area filled with fluid.

Skye Island Drive

Because of the flooding, I had to take a new running route...and it stands to reason the streets that are not flooded are the ones that are at the highest elevations...like Skye Island Drive.  Well, I ran up that road today and I disliked every step of it...it was about .7 of a mile long and way too steep.

The Run:
Miles:  4.05
Time:  37:29
Pace:  9:15

Below is a picture taken today from the Dicks parking lot...I usually park right where that shopping cart is sitting.

Cats & Dogs

Today will be the 8th straight day of work for me - My legs are sore from all the work and from last weeks running...I have tomorrow off and will take my Ghost 4's for a swim...I mean run tomorrow...if it stops raining...

I have ordered materials to start building an Ark...I hope they arrive soon because that is going to be the only way we can get anywhere.  I believe it has been raining for 40 straight days and 40 straight nights...the children were let out of school early today so the buses would be able to get them home before EVERY street in this city is closed.

I am sitting here @ the dining room table with the windows and door open and all I can hear are police and fire truck sirens going off constantly.

What the hell is going on?  Earthquake, hurricane and now this.

Dropping The Deuce

Sorry for the delay on the post - it's been a wild and crazy ride this week!
I did a run on Monday (8/29/11) and it was a tough one for me, I would say the toughest I've had in awhile...
I am not sure what the problem was, but I  suffered from some terrible stomach pains beginning around mile 5.  This resulted in a lot of stopping and starting for a couple miles.
I would run for a little bit and when I was sure I was going to poop my pants, I would stop and walk.  Then I would get mad and begin running again.  Repeat.
Finally, I came to a bathroom and was able to take care of some business.  I thought that this would resolve the issue, but even after that my stomach was upset.  However, I was able to finish by running - just slower than normal.
That night I suffered horribly and spent most of the night in the bathroom.  So much so that Luke actually told me that he didn't want me to go running anymore.  He was worried about me.

Run: 8 miles
Time: 85 minutes
Pace: 10.6
